'Tis the season for cheerful celebrations and cozying up by the fire. (Please notify me if you know someone in New York who actually has a fireplace and would like to watch Home Alone 1 and 2. I'll bring the hot toddies.)
I'm so excited for the holiday season! Cuddling by the fire and hitting up holiday parties, what could be better? I'm psyched to find cocktail dresses and lovely layers to don throughout the festivus. I've already begun the search and comprised a few looks that I must recreate.
Sequins, bells and baubles, Oh my! This emerald dress is gorgeous, and I just love how whimsical and festive these Kate Spade bell earrings are.

This neutral lace bolero is the perfect pairing for a tailored pencil skirt in a bold color. Unique jewel tone color combinations are such a great statement.

Don't be afraid to mix metallics, especially around the holidays. Opt for a bold blazer in place of a boring cardigan!

Please share your holiday style finds, and let the festivities begin!

Dear Kate,
Congratulations on your recent engagement. You must already be dreaming of your perfect wedding gown and I'm sure everyone is offering their advice and opinion. But look no further - I've got you covered. You're welcome in advance.
Seriously, don't even mention it.

Okay, so everyone is weighing in on Kate Middleton's wedding dress. Even though William proposed only a few days ago, self-proclaimed bridal stylists ranging from Bieber fans to my grandmother are discussing what she should wear.
That being said, I've decided to do my own personal shopping.
Kate is such a classic girl-next-door, so the first designer that came to mind was Alice Temperley.
This. Is. It.
Perfect for a princess, this dress is just one of three in the whole world. Naturally, it costs $20,000! The photo doesn't do much for how AMAZING this dress is, so please take my word for it. I may or may not have tried it on for fun. And it's really flattering! (Read: It works wonders for the bust.)
Actually, this might be more my style than hers. Sorry, got side-tracked. :)
This Temperley gown is perfect for her. It's extremely classic and elegant, but the structured style gives it a modern edge. It's perfect for pairing with royal jewels!
Lace is a staple fabric for bridal, and it is everywhere right now. This Oscar de la Renta gown is gorgeous.
But when all is said and done, this dusty rose gown from Vera Wang may be my favorite. Replace the tassel necklace with a strand of pearls or stud earrings.
So there you go, Kate. I'm sure your decision-making process will go much smoother now that you have my two cents!
Please share your thoughts/suggestions, too.

Tiffany Valentin dances regularly at Pacha in New York City. Recently, she wore the Nina Shostopper light-up shoes out for a spin (or two). Suffice it to say, the crowd went wild.
"Finally, a tasteful light-up shoe," Tiffany said. "They are classy, and they made me feel beautiful!"
We didn't think anything could be hotter than Tiffany's dance act, but apparently she's also a fire performer! Can't wait to see what she'll pair with her Shostoppers next!

Do you ever buy something new, then get bored after just a couple wears?
Guilty, me too!
Not to mention, I constantly convince myself that I just need a printed cocktail dress or a pair of purple suede wedges. To avoid these impulses (and pay my rent), I'm always thinking up new ways to keep my wardrobe fresh.
Enter: Shoe accessories!
I love finding great shoe clips or broaches to update my classic pumps. I rely more on actual shoe clips, because they don't ruin the shoe. Also, it's a bit difficult to find two of the same broach.
Shoe clips are especially popular for customizing bridal or evening shoes, but they're also great for updating everyday heels. I even add them to clutches, cardigans and hairbands.
I've found that AbsolutelyAudrey.com has the best assortment for virtually every occasion. And don't you just love their name?!
This is my favorite pair. I would add them to everything! They even styled them on a pair of Nina Shoes.
This vintage style is the runner up, in my opinion.
Add these clips from etsy.com for an elegant touch.
I absolutely love these feather clips! They're the perfect way to wear feathers without investing in a trendy pair of heels. They also look great on the outside ankle of the shoe.
What do you think of accessorizing your shoes? Please share your own ideas for updating pieces in your closet!

Every bride should be OB-sessed with each piece of her outfit. I was no expection to this rule.
I was in love with my gown, accessories and shoes (all 3 pairs!).
When I slipped into my wedding dress, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world. Your gown should make you feel like a million bucks, so make sure it represents you and your style. My Lazaro dress (purchased at Kleinfeld) was sleek and sassy and made me feel like a Supa Model. :)
Remember, if you feel comfortable and wonderful, then you will look fabulous on your big day! So stand tall and look beautiful - you're a bride today!
A few fellow brides also wore Nina Shoes on their wedding day and looked stunning: Green Wedding Shoes, Relentless Bride, and Perfect Bound.
We would absolutely love to see your wedding day attire, so please post photos to our Facebook page! Please show and tell :)
Wishing you all glamorous planning!
xoxo

Nina Shoes were featured on the runway alongside Badgley Mischka. Mark Badgley and James Mischka hosted the fashion show at the legendary Greenbrier Hotel, a National Historic landmark, in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
Among the Nina styles featured were the Eveline sequined peep-toe bootie, the Clorele pearl-ornamented sandal, and the Tuesday metallic platform heel. Many thanks to Yarid's for providing these photos.

Whenever I peruse magazines or runway photos, I strike up a conversation with myself that always starts with the question: "Why can't I wear that?"
Well, usually there's just too much going on or it doesn't quite translate to street fashion - even in the fashion capital of the world.
There are many ways to make these looks your own while keeping it everyday appropriate. Here are a few of-the-moment trends from the runway and how you can reinvent the looks in more wearable ways.
Wear these new Nina styles to complete your chic looks!

We all do it. Ask for advice from others, then turn around and do the exact opposite.
My wedding day was one of the few times in my life that I actually followed advice, and I'm so glad I did. :)
Some of the best advice I received (and followed!):
1. Stop!
As often as you can, just stop. Stop whatever you are doing for 10-20 seconds and just take it all in. You will be amazed at how much you end up remembering from the long day, and it won't seem like a big blur.
While I was getting ready I made it a point to watch what was going on all around me. I was in a beautiful hotel room with my best friends and special women from my family. I didn't want to miss it.
2. Eat!
Everyone warns you about this. Don't you think it's for a reason?!?!
It is, so don't underestimate it. Plus, if you do it right after the ceremony, while your guests enjoy cocktail hour, you will get to enjoy some alone time with your new husband. B fought me on this because he didn't want to miss out on cocktail hour, but I stood my ground. We ended up having some much needed alone time, and he thanked me for making him eat. :)
We fit a quick snack in during pictures before the ceremony. NYC pretzel, anyone? :P
3. Delegate!
People WANT to help you on your big day, so let them. It will save you from running around trying to do everything yourself. If something comes up while you're getting your hair done, ask one of your bridesmaids to do it. My vows needed to be rewritten in pen so I'd be able to read them, and I couldn't do it while getting my hair and makeup done. So I asked my MOH to do it. It was a HUGE help, and she didn't mind at all.
My Maid of Honor and now sister-in-law Sandra rewrote my vows.
4. Let it go!
Things are going to go wrong. Period.
You must realize this before the day comes and be prepared to let it go. Do not let anything ruin your special day! In the grand sceme of things, the day really isn't about anything other than you marrying your best friend. Remember that.
B couldn't find his shoes! He ended up wearing loafers, which was fine. :) It bothered me for about two seconds, then I forgot all about it!
So the fire alarm went off a few times in the middle of a dance set. Big deal! As long as there isn't an actual fire and all your guests are safe, who cares?
The day will have it's share of hiccups but as long as you have fun, so will everyone else. Don't be a crazy bride that runs around trying to fix everything. Just have FUN!
On my wedding day, I made a conscious effort to follow this advice, and it made a world of difference. I was calm, I remember so much, and I had a blast! At the end of the day, nothing should ruin this incredible event, so don't allow it to happen.
Here's some more of my favorite advice from brides.com, weddingchannel.com. Also, a great piece from David Tutera for planning your big day.
Do you have great words of wisdom for brides? What was the best piece of advice you received on your wedding day? Is there advice that you got and wished you would have followed?
Please comment and share with us.
Wishing you all glamorous planning,
xoxo
